Executive Functioning

Over the summer I had the opportunity to go to the Social Thinking providers conference in San Francisco.  There were so many wonderful speakers I could have listened to them for many days.

One of the highlights for me was hearing Sarah Ward, M.S., CCC-SLP speak about Executive functioning.  She was a dynamic speaker and gave me so many practical strategies to apply to my clinical practice and daily life with my little ones.

Executive function skills are so important for all of us in our daily lives at home and in school.  Being able to effectively manage our time so we can complete tasks, organizing ourselves to get started on a project or task, and problem solving when difficulties arise are all a part of executive functioning.

Check out the article I recently posted on Facebook for a study that briefly discusses the importance of these skills.
